World-Direct is one of the largest software service providers in western Austria and, as an innovation laboratory for A1, we are constantly looking for new ways to develop digital solutions. As IT experts, we are a technology leader and develop customized products and services for A1 and our customers.

Innovation and creativity thrive upon interdisciplinary exchange and collaboration with external experts, universities, schools, research groups, meetups and other companies. We employ agile development processes and design thinking methods with continuous customer involvement to develop value-adding solutions in a timely manner and to position them prominently on the market. Collaboration is supported by flexible innovation spaces and formats that bring people from different disciplines together and encourage face-to-face communication to become creative and innovative  together. Technology surrounds us at all times and supports us, but should never be the dominant element. It’s better to scribble quickly onto paper than struggle with the electronic whiteboard.

Our World-Direct headquarter is In Sistrans, 10 minutes away from Innsbruck. Surrounded by idyllic meadows, it offers a panoramic view of the Tyrolean mountains. Successful projects, sustainable growth strategy and focus on innovation place new demands on our premises, technology and organization. By the end of 2018, it’s time for the next level! We are expanding in the immediate vicinity of the current headquarters.

The entire campus will be equipped with an innovative energy concept to prove what is possible with our energy solutions.

The architect has already done a great job with the building and room concept and now it’s your turn! We want to position our campus as a focal point for cross-company and cross-industry collaboration and create value through networks.

Here are a few key points that are important to us:

• With the campus and the outcome of the Challenge, we would like to strengthen the position of World Direct as IT experts with an innovation focus and thus promote interdisciplinary exchange and cooperation
• We live a very open culture of cooperation and are constantly looking for valuable partnerships
• To  create digital innovations, we urgently need capable and dedicated software developers. We want to include them early in the innovation process.
• We aim to position ourselves as an attractive employer by showing our open corporate culture to the outside world.
• The interdisciplinary and informal communication between departments, teams, external consultants, partners and visitors is valuable and enlightening

What we don’t want:

• A purely functional room which can be rented is not our goal
• A classic co-working space or FabLab, but we like to work with them!
• Detailed room or office design concepts
• A single idea like “Do a hackathon”

Als IT-Experten sind wir technologisch ganz weit vorne und entwickeln maßgeschneiderte Produkte und Services für A1 und unsere Kunden.

Innovation und Kreativität leben vom interdisziplinären Austausch und Zusammenarbeit mit externen Experten, Universitäten, Schulen, Forschungsgruppen, Meetups und anderen Firmen. Design Thinking Methoden und agile Entwicklungsprozesse mit kontinuierlicher Kundeneinbindung werden von uns eingesetzt, um wertschöpfende Lösungen zeitnah zu entwickeln und treffsicher am Markt zu positionieren. Die Zusammenarbeit wird unterstützt durch flexible Innovationsräume und -formate, die Menschen unterschiedlicher Disziplinen zusammenbringen und Face-to-Face Kommunikation anregen, um gemeinsam kreativ und erfinderisch zu werden. Technologie umgibt uns zu jeder Zeit und unterstützt uns, darf aber nie das beherrschende Element sein – lieber schnell auf Papier gescribbelt, als mit dem elektronischen Whiteboard zu kämpfen.

In Sistrans, 10 min entfernt von Innsbruck, befindet sich der Hauptsitz von World-Direct und bietet eingerahmt von idyllischen Wiesen einen Panoramablick auf die Tiroler Berge. Erfolgreiche Projekte, nachhaltige Wachstumsstrategie und Innovationsfokus stellen neue Anforderungen an unsere Räumlichkeiten, Technik und Organisation. Mit Ende 2018 ist es daher Zeit für das nächste Level! Wir bauen in direkter Nachbarschaft des aktuellen Hauptsitzes intelligent aus.

Der komplette Campus wird auch mit einem innovativen Energiekonzept ausgestattet, um zu beweisen, was mit unseren Energielösungen möglich ist.

Der Architekt hat beim Gebäude- und Raumkonzept bereits ganze Arbeit geleistet und jetzt seid ihr dran!  Wir möchten den Campus als Kristallisationspunkt für firmen- und branchenübergreifende Zusammenarbeit positionieren und neue Wertangebote durch Netzwerke schaffen.

Was also ist eure konkrete Challenge?

Eure Aufgabe ist es, zu überlegen, wie wir diesen Kristallisationspunkt mit konkreten Formaten und Marketingaktivitäten zum Leben erwecken!

Egal ob Event, Meetup, Veranstaltungsserie, Prozess, Initiative, Ideenlabor, Trendmesse, Co-Innovation Hub, Lean Coffee oder Kamingespräche oder gänzlich neue Formate – Hauptsache es ist ein Win-Win für alle Beteiligten und natürlich für uns! Aus diesen Impulsen sollen langfristig Innovationen und neue Produkte sowie Services entstehen.

Noch ein paar Grundprinzipien, die uns wichtig sind:

• Mit dem Campus und dem Outcome der Challenge möchten wir World-Direct noch stärker als IT-Experten mit Innovationsfokus positionieren und so den interdisziplinären Austausch und Kooperationen fördern
• Wir leben eine sehr offene Kooperationskultur und sind ständig auf der Suche nach wertvollen Partnerschaften
• Für die Umsetzung der digitalen Innovationen brauchen wir dringend fähige und engagierte Softwareentwickler. Diese können und sollen früh in den Innovationsprozess eingebunden werden.
• Wir möchten unser attraktives Arbeitsangebot auch nach aussen tragen, indem wir unsere offene Unternehmenskultur kommunizieren.
• Die interdisziplinäre und ungezwungene Kommunikation zwischen Abteilungen, Teams, externen Consultants, Partnern und Besuchern ist wertvoll und aufschlussreich für unser Engagement im Markt

Was wollen wir nicht:

• Ein reiner Veranstaltungsraum der gemietet werden kann ist nicht das Ziel
• Einen klassischer Co-Working Space oder FabLab, wobei wir aber gern mit diesen zusammenarbeiten!
• Detaillierte Raum- bzw. Bürogestaltungskonzepte
• Eine einzelne Idee „Macht doch einen Hackathon“

The winning team can look forward to a sponsored trip to Vienna and visit the A1 Startup Campus there. There we meet Mario Mayerthaler, the Head of Innovation of A1, as well as organizer of “Austria’s Next Top Startup” and will talk to the established startups about the challenges, risks and opportunities for innovative ideas in Austria. In addition, you are VIPs at the first event held on the new WD campus in Sistrans.
