4 Challenges, 170+ talents, 48 hours: At the “InnoDays #SeamlessExperience 2025”, the focus was on bold ideas to shape the future of the tourism.

Vienna, May 14th-May 16th, 2025.
From idea to prototype in 48 hours” – Under this motto, more than 170 creative minds from various universities worked together to develop innovative solutions for more seamless travel experiences during the ViennaUp. In collaboration with the Austrian National Tourist Office we brought organizations and talent together to tackle pressing challenges in tourism.

Challenges & Winning Ideas

Our participants tackled four specific innovation challenges:

Seamless Check-In & Check-Out by Tirol Werbung

How might we design a seamless check-in and check-out experience that enhances guest convenience while improving operational efficiency for hospitality businesses across all accommodation types?

Team CI3 (PowerBand) developed the best solution with a bracelet which guests can use as a room key and payment method – enabling smooth guest experiences while celebrating local culture in Tirol.

AI-ready destinations by Österreich Werbung and the digital leads from the regions.

How might we, as tourism organizations, strategically and reliably integrate information from trusted sources into various AI systems, so that travelers can access relevant and tailored content at any time?

Team AI1 (Content Coach) impressed our jury with smart glasses that help tourism providers effortlessly create AI-ready content through voice and text prompts as they walk through their locations.

Seamless group pre-booking by Schönbrunn Group

How might we offer our B2B partners a digital, fair, and transparent pre-booking process for their groups – even when demand exceeds supply?

Team PB4 (Reward Rebels) won the category by developing a performance-based tier system where partners can move up or down based on performance. With higher tiers unlocking benefits such as earlier booking access and improved payment conditions, creating a fairer, more transparent, and performance-driven allocation process.

Meaningful nature breaks

How might we design meaningful time-outs on farms that support both the regeneration of guests and nature – while remaining economically viable?

In this category, Team NB7 (Landg’fühl) won the challenge by offering small, pop-up nature experiences in urban locations like train stations that offer diverse sensory micro-experiences inspired by farm stays.
